Health, Safety & Environment (Mining, Resources & Energy) Federation Mining is an Australian based mining company with a development mine on the West Coast of New Zealand. The Snowy River project is progressing well and will complete the development of twin 3.5kms declines early this year with the focus shifting to an extensive drilling program, dewatering of the historic Blackwater Mine and preparing the site to transition to production and processing. Due to the growing needs of the site, the Snowy River Mine has an opportunity for a Sustainability Manager to work within the current team of approx. 50 employees based onsite, near Reefton on the West Coast. The site team is expected to grow to over 140 people by the end of 2024.The Sustainability Manager will work closely with the site General Manager and have a functional report to the Vice President – Sustainability, based in Sydney Head Office. The role will work with and manage one direct report – Sustainability Advisor.This site-based role will be based on a 5/2 roster and will be expected to travel regionally regularly to attend stakeholder engagements & other duties.Duties will include, but not limited to:Provide high level advice and support on matters relating to Sustainability, ESG and Stakeholder relations to Site and Corporate leadershipEnsure compliance with requirements with Resource consents and government permit conditions Coordinate the management of the HSE management system, risk register & ESG data Prepare reports, provide advice and recommendations to ManagementDevelop strong working relationships across the site and with contract partners Undertake regular inspections and assurance audits Facilitate community and stakeholder engagement processes Support the preparation of investigations and reports into incidents and eventsEnsure compliance and assurance of HSEC and risk management processes Engage with Government agencies, stakeholders and key partners in consultation with managementOversee the management of the site training systemEnsure government and ESG reporting obligations are met in accordance with regulations and permit conditionsIdeally, you would possess the below skill set:5 years’ experience leading or coordinating the HSEC function in the resource or industrial sectorExceptional communication skills and extensive experience in stakeholder relations Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (Environment, HSEC, ESG, Resource management) with broad and diverse experience Current Drivers Licence with clean recordSatisfactory completion of an underground suitable pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing, and clean police clearance is part of the recruitment process.
