Care You Can Count On
The program director will have final responsibility and accountability for the operation of the Internal Medicine Residency Program , must administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the residents in each of the ACGME competency areas.
Job Specifics
Provide support equal to a dedicated minimum time specified by the ACGME for administration of the program based on size and configuration. The directorship will carry an FTE of .50 for program administration and additional .50 FTE will be clinical work.
Attend required sponsoring institution meetings (e.g. GMEC), and regularly engage and meet with the Program Manager/Coordinator.
Oversee and ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education in all sites that participate in the program.
Approve a local site director at each participating site who is accountable for resident education and regularly engage.
Approve the selection of and evaluate program faculty as appropriate.
Approve the continued participation of program faculty based on evaluation.
Monitor resident teaching and supervision at all participating sites.
Prepare and submit all information required and requested by the ACGME on-time.
Ensure compliance with all Institutional Requirements and policies and procedures implemented by the sponsoring institution's Designated Institutional Official (DIO).
Provide each resident with a documented comprehensive evaluation and develop an individualized learning plan twice yearly.
Monitor performance and maintain contact with residents while they are on inpatient services and in clinic; and monitor resident stress, including physical or emotional conditions which inhibit performance or learning.
Lead regular faculty meetings to include faculty development
Chair the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC)
Participate in Clinical Competency Committee meetings (CCC)
Be familiar with and comply with ACGME and Review Committee policies and procedures as outlined in the ACGME Manual of Policies and Procedures.
Obtain review and approval of the sponsoring institution's GMEC/DIO before submitting information or requests to the ACGME.
Encourage and Mentor resident and faculty scholarly activities.
Monitor program budget costs and meet with the CMO-DIO to review and plan program budget costs.
Recruit qualified and diverse medical students annually (NRMP Match) for the residency program.

The Chief Academic Officer (CAO)/Designated Institutional Official (DIO) of Graduate Medical Education is responsible for central oversight, management and monitoring of all clinical GME programs. The CAO/DIO leads the implementation of Graduate Medical Education for the Universal Health Services, Inc., Wellington Regional Medical Center; is responsible for ensuring that all future and current residency and fellowship programs maintain compliance with ACGME requirements; and that the Wellington Regional Medical Center GME training program(s) provide the highest level of education and training to physicians.
The CAO/DIO requires a minimum of seventy-five percent (75%) time commitment that actively reports and works in collaboration with the UHS, Inc. Corporate Vice President of Quality/Chief Medical Officer with a maximum of twenty-five percent (25%) clinical service activity.
Qualifications Job Requirements
Board Certified by ABIM and/or OABIM
Unrestricted licensure or qualified to obtain licensure to practice Internal Medicine in the state of Florida required.
Preferred experience: IM residency program Core faculty, APD, or PD with 3+ years of documented educational and/ or administrative experience.
Demonstration of ongoing scholarly activity as defined by the American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), including but not limited to regional and national presentations, articles, book chapters, research, performance improvement projects, and patient safety projects.
Demonstration of excellence in patient care and teaching.
Must possess excellent clinical skills, leadership skills, communication skills, and a strong commitment to providing excellent care that is team oriented.
